Surrounded by our delightful native ponies and donkey, the doves, sheep, wild birds and other wild creatures, a peaceful, rural camp-over for one or two people. Immerse yourself in the healing energy of nature. Ideal for meditation and contemplation. Maybe bring a book, crystals, musical instruments or any of your resources to enrich your stay. A delightful country retreat, tucked away in a discreet but spacious part of Somerset, ideal for a refreshing time to unwind and reconnect. Warm yourself in the evenings by the firepit outside or light the stove inside and enjoy this worthwhile time for your wellbeing and nurture in nature. Relax around the cosy and charming Shepherd’s Hut or go for a leisurely walk along the public footpath that leads to the river and back past the historic Rimpton Church for a circular walk. Sun-rise is breathtaking and spectacular behind the retreat and the sun sets to the front. Longer walks are easily taken to the next village of Sandford Orcas to a village Pub. Dove Retreat is situated in open paddocks, with natural hedges surrounding it. Catch glimpses of rabbits, foxes, badgers, frogs and roe deer, who all live around us. Enjoy this precious time in the wild and embrace all that the weather offers us, the necessary elements of the seasons, for which we show gratitude as the seasons change.
Off grid, free from electricity or wifi for complete natural bliss and relaxation. Bring your own bedding or request to have it provided. Bio-degradable compost loo. Self-catering, so please bring your own food and drinks. sorry no glassware allowed outside, as the sheep and ponies graze where you gaze! A compact and easy camping gas stove is provided. Bring your own utensils/plates/cooking pans or request to have it provided.
Please wear comfortable and practical footwear as there is uneven ground. Waterproof coats and hats are useful for those showery days. Sorry, no pets allowed. Over 18’s only.
No other people in the field apart from myself and sometimes my husband, tending to the ponies, sheep and doves. Normal duties for a small-holding will be happening from time to time, but there will be no activities being ran for other people whilst you stay.
Close to Queen Camel village 3 miles and Sherborne town 4 miles or Yeovil town 5 miles for takeaway services, supermarkets, fuel stations. Country pubs in all directions. Local to Sherborne Abbey and historic Castle, Cadbury Hill Fort, said to have been used by the legendary King Arthur, 3 miles. Ham Hill at Stoke sub Hamdon 9 miles for spectacular views of Somerset towards Devon. Glastonbury Tor is about 20 miles. Travelling by road only 4 miles to Sparkford A303 for easy access.
